Mixed Berry Pastries

This semi-homemade recipe for mixed berry pastries is a cinch to make and perfect for last-minute or overnight company. You can start with either a tube of crescent rolls or a sheet of puff pastry. (The puff pastry is better for you; less artificial ingredients and preservatives versus the tube crescent rolls.)

Try these for a yummy Saturday morning treat or the next time you have overnight guests. Everyone will love them!


Prep time: 15 minute prep; 15 minute bake
Makes 4 pastries


  • 1 tube of crescent rolls (or one sheet of puff pastry, thawed)
  • 1/3 package of an 8 ounce cream cheese (approx. 4 teaspoons), brought to room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons raw sugar
  • 4-5 tablespoons of frozen mixed berries, thawed
  • one egg plus 1 teaspoon of water for brushing pastry

Preheat oven to 400 degrees and grease a cookie sheet.

Mix cream cheese, vanilla and one teaspoon of the sugar in a small bowl. Set aside.

Create 4 equal squares of pastry with either crescent rolls or puff pastry and place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet.

Spread 1 teaspoon of cream cheese mixture on top of each piece of pastry.

Put 1 tablespoon of thawed fruit in the center of each pastry.

Pulling up 2 corners of pastry at a time, bring to center to cover the fruit and overlap corners in the center, pressing down slightly so the dough sticks together. Repeat with other 2 corners until most of fruit is covered. See image.

Brush tops and sides of each pastry with egg mixture.

Sprinkle remaining teaspoon of sugar on top of each pastry. Sprinkle each with cinnamon if desired.

Bake for 12-15 minutes until the edges are golden brown.

Cool slightly before serving – fruit gets really hot!
