This basic recipe for macaroons comes courtesy of Kraft Foods. With the addition of chocolate and a few helpful hints, I’ve made it my own. These will only take you about 10 minutes to put together plus baking time. Easy peasy! Once you make these delicious macaroons, be prepared to share the recipe.

Prep time: 1 hour
Makes approximately 1 1/2 dozen cookies


  • 2 2/3 cup of flake coconut
  • 2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix all ingredients in a medium bowl.

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a well-greased cookie sheet about 1 inch apart. I use my 1 1/2 inch cookie scoop for this – press the coconut mixture into scoop and drop onto cookie sheet.

Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden brown.

REMOVE IMMEDIATELY from pan and cool completely on wire rack lined with parchment paper. (If you don’t remove them right away, they will be stuck to the pan and you’ll ruin them trying to get them off…I know this from experience.) 🙂

Dip in chocolate, if desired: Once completely cooled or chilled, dip into melted, chocolate almond bark or melt 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a glass container in micro. Dip all or just half of each cookie. Chill on wire rack lined with parchment paper. Once chocolate has set, put in an airtight container and keep cool until ready to serve.
