Toscana Saporita Cooking School

Cooking classes in the heart of Tuscany

This wonderful school is located at Casa Rossa, a 16th century villa and farm. They welcome students from all over the world with cooking experience at all levels--from culinary beginners to accomplished chefs. They come to study the unique nature of Tuscan Cuisine.

All classes are completely hands on, small in size and conducted in English.

I was there in October 2010 and had a wonderful, amazing experience. Chef Sandra is warm, witty and a ton of fun. I've never laughed so hard in my life! Our class size was 13, (the most you'll experience; most are less), and we had such a good time cooking together. The meals we fixed were out of this world and served with regional red and white wines.

Here are a couple of the recipes I learned to make during my time at Toscana Saporita Cooking School:
Penne with Porcini Mushroom Sauce (Pasta alla Boscaiola)
Fennel Gratin (Finocchi Gratinati)

After lunch each day, we departed to a nearby town for a bit of sightseeing, exploring, and relaxing for 3-4 hours (with an English-speaking guide - ours, the witty Eleanor and the charming Andrea!).

Then it was back to the school for dinner. This is really where the fun begins as you spend several hours with your feet under the table getting to know your classmates, the chefs, and experiencing more of the authentic Tuscan cuisine, culture and language. The chefs are so passionate about their traditional dishes, you can't help but join in!
